As we got going, the water was kind of choppy and it was quite breezy, so the dolphins stayed away but we did get to see a pretty sunset, and listen to lots of silly music on the boat.
We always find a way to have a giggle - check us out with Mummy and Daddy on-board!
Vila and I also love to snuggle up - we are very loving sisters. I love to have Violet give me one of her big hugs.
Another thing we did was visit the JN Darling Wildlife Refuge Conservation - one of the only ones open to the public in the USA. We were going to take a tram ride, but it was a bit long, so we decided to drive the 5 miles ourselves and stop along the way. This is a "birders" paradise. Violet and I enjoyed climbing on the rails at the viewing area and looking for herons, cranes and all sorts of other birdies.
There were quite a few walking around (flamingoes too!) as it was low tide, but it was hard to get a good picture - but believe me, that was quite a lot of big white birdies out there!!
This is also home to the mangroves - a really interesting sort of twisty, viney, tree - check it out.
And another activity - biking!!! Our resort had free rentals of bikes and trailers, and the whole island of Sanibel is covered in bike trails - that's how most people get around. It was a picture perfect day, so off we went.....with Vila and I getting our own trailer each behind Mummy and Daddy. What fun - they did the work and we rode in style. It was so soothing, that we both fell asleep on the ride out to the lighthouse.
We soon woke up though when we got to our next destination - Pinocchio's Ice Cream Shop! It is the oldest ice cream shop on Sanibel and they have the most delicious flavours. Look at how excited I was to get there!!!
We all sat on the porch, where they have many wooden chairs, to eat our treats. They were HUGE, even with a kiddie size, so we took our time and got every last bite. They even gave us sprinkles - what more could you ask for?
So you see, we weren't just beach bums the entire trip! Hee hee - but nothing wrong with that either! Love Audrey and Violet xoxo
